i did install mdac 2.8. however, my windows 2000 server "windows update"
keeps prompting for a service pack for mdac 2.7. I cant get the update
installed it keeps erroring out. therefore i was just hoping i could
uninstall it...

You can't. It is a system component and once installed, that is it.
You could install MDAC 2.8 on top.
