Re: MDAC 2.8 silent install not working

Does MDAC 2.8 SP1 support XP ?
The web page does not mention XP but 2000, ME, 98 and NT only.

Currently running xp sp1 and trying to run mdac_typ.exe /q to
accomplish a
silent install of mdac 2.8. I always get prompted with the EULA, is
there
anyway to avoid the EULA dialog box? I have also tried with the
switches
mdac_typ.exe /q:a but still get EULA.

That is the right thing. Try

mdac_typ.exe /q /q:a

with "/q:a" last and any other switches inbetween.

Related question, are newer versions of MDAC fairly backwards
compatable?
We
are looking at updating 19,000 workstations and are planning on lots of
testing. Just wanted to know how much trouble we might be in for.

Yes they are supposed to be very backward compatible.
But the years there has been the odd hiccup.
