That's all great stuff Stephen; I'll give these connection strings a shot
and see what happens. It might take a few days though before I give a
reply, as I'm quite busy these days and this question stems from a pet
project of mine...I don't get to spend nearly as much time on this as I
would like to.

Frankly I have no preference as to what underlying technology is being used
to access the database; my requirements are simply that I use ADO in my ASP
code and SQL Server 2005 (x64) as my backend. I'd prefer to have a user
with *very* limited access to the machine and the database (that user only
needs to perform a few SELECT statements), but throwing tight security in at
this point IMO is just adding an extra layer of complexity...I need to work
out the basics first, and then look into securing it later (it's my own home
machine)...
