I'd install the latest MDAC 2.8 SP1. You'll always have the option to set
references to .... for example;
'Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects 2.x Library'
2.0 thru 2.8
I don't know if I'd attempt the uninstall. Whatever you do be prepared to
reinstall the operating system.
