We have learned that this process causes an extreme amount of database
connections to be opened, effectively DoSing the server doing the
processing
by using up the connection pool. (Our database is pretty beefy, so it
stays
up). Has anyone encountered this before?

Database type not mentioned - is this SQL Server?

The open statements of your Recordsets - are they really
objRs.Open SQL
i.e. just 1 parameter _ONLY_ ? If not, please put a representative sample.

I can speculate the cause but I won't bother as some things are unconfirmed.
