Thanks. I'll try looking into the user permissions aspect although the
database is simply a personal one on my PC with no security settings set.
Of course I only wanted to use Access as a simple convenient platform (which
I know) to do the development the actual platform is a real database (I
think it's MySQL) on my provider's server. It is a good suggestion though
to look at alternatives eg MySQL or the 'lite' version of SQL Server (I did
not know there was one!).

But really, it SHOULD be possible to do this simple thing with Access should
it not? I can't believe nobody out there has done it.
