Mdac 2.8 SP1 rollout question

Tried to roll MDAC 2.8 SP1 by converting to an .MSI and pushing through
as a GPO, it did not seem to work very well- more of a headache than
anything else. We are trying to run an application that requires Mdac
2.8 SP1, most clients have 2.7 and t would be very tedious to update 88
pc's manually. Perhaps there is a way to push this through WSUS?
Any comments appreciated.
