If they have Win 2K or XP, the VB runtimes are already pre-installed. It's
the Jet dlls you have to worry about.

While I still maintain a few Access databases, I've moved most of my systems
over to SQL Server. I've only messed with Access MDW files briefly in the
past when the company I work for (Computer Manuals,
http://www.compman.co.uk ) was looking at providing a searchable catalogue
application on CD to our customers; that ended up being a VB4 16-bit program
with Access 2.0 database so it could run on Win 3.x and Win9x with the same
executable that was developed by a contractor, but I ended up helping with
the "locking down" of the Access database and passing the technical details
onto the programmer.

If I get started on answering something, I tend to try and stick it out to
find a solution - and you never know when someone else has a similar
problem. I provide ad-hoc tech support for Microsoft Press in the UK (the
company I work for is a book retailer that has close ties to Microsoft Press
and we sit at the end of the UK phone number for MS Press sales) so it's
always handy to widen my knowledge. You never know, I might get a customer
on the phone in the near future asking if there's a book that covers
creating MDWs on the fly, and I'll be able to give them a pretty thorough
answer now :)
