I have a Windows 2000 system with mdac 2.7 installed. First to get mdac 2.8
installed I had to remove the read only attribute on the inf files for mdac.
Then it was able to install except at the end it rolled back. I read the kb
article about renaming the odbcconf.dll file but that did not help. Any
suggestions?
Re: windows update kb927779 always reoffers to install even alread ... Suggest you contact MS for no charge support in getting this Security update installed: ... And even download SP2 and install again same.... ... Then I run System File Checker tool on a Windows XP SP2-based computer by Insert the CD XP SP2,also same problem.. ... I don't see how you can repair MDAC without ... (microsoft.public.windowsupdate)
Re: MDAC 2.8 ... There are no registry details given only Summary, File and MDAC.... MDAC Version Number Windows 98 and Windows 98 Second Edition ... To install MDAC 2.8 SP1, you must install Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2).... (microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support)

Setp6: Continue with the install.... When you open Windows Media Player after getting back to Windows you will get the same error message that you got during the ...
