VB error -2147217887(80040e21)

When trying to extract values from a table in SQL we come across this error: RUNTIME ERROR: -2147217887(80040e21)

I used Adodc connection and fetched a set of values from a table in SQL. all the data corresponding to all columns, other than those with date datatype, is fetched. The value fetched in the adodc recordset corresponding to the date column is shown as <ERROR OCCURED...>

i used the same coding on my home pc and it ran fine....
Now when running on my offie PC i encounter this error.
My home PC has WIN-Xp, ORACLE-9i, VB-6
My office PC has Win 98, ORACLE-8i, VB-6
