Date-Fields via ADO

Hi,
hope this is the right place to ask. Maybe somebody already heard about this one, and knows a remedy.
Connecting to firebird/interbase via odbc/ado results in fatal error. Code "SQL Error -804, invalid structure in SQLDA structure". This only affects fields of type "date". Using - for example - MSQuery to retrieve a recordset including a date-field will cause an error. Selecting all other field-types and leaving out date-fields works fine.
