ADO Verions

I have a desktop app written in VB6 on windows XP referencing ADO 2.5
Calling a local access 2k db.

I have been asked to install it on some windows 98 PC's and had some
trouble with "Multiple step" errors when doing a rs.adnew.

Some of the PC's had MDAC 2.6 but I found if I put MDAC 2.5 and Jet SP
3 on the problem went away in all but one of the PC's

I would like to use some of the adox functions to update the table
structure but after the trouble I had getting the app to work I am a
little it may fail.

Can some one put me on the right track with win 98 and access 2k would
I be better to go to MDAC 2.8 with that installed on the PC's would I
also need the Jet sp 3
