The prerequisites for those e-learning courses (even the very first one,
Course 2936: Installing and Securing Microsoft® SQL ServerT 2005) state
that
you must have experience with Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 or SQL Server 2000
in
the areas of Architecture, Installation and Configuration, and Security.
Like
I said, I have no SQL Server experience whatsoever, and I am looking for
something a bit more targeted towards the novice level.
Those prereqs are, perhaps, a bit overstated.
I concur with John, the /best/ place to start to get familiar with the
workings of SQL Server is the free e-Learning courses.
In fact, one of my concerns/observations about the eLearning courses, were
that they weren't as in-depth/detailed as I expected them to be; thus, I've
now started using them as an 'overview' of material, before I dive into
Books Online, MSPress, or MOC material.
