I too am preparing for the 229 exam. But I've been working with the product
for quite awhile, so now when I read a topic or question in a book, much of
it is, "oh yeah, that". For those tasks that I have not ever had to do, I'm
"experimenting" with various scenarios on my development systems. Practice
working with all of the DBA tasks associated with SQL Server should surely
make you feel competent about taking the exam (if it doesn't, what would be
the point in having an exam). I'm guessing I'd score about 65-70% without
studying (which isn't enough to pass, but gives you an idea how much of what
you are tested on appears to be related to hands-on work). I've also heard
many folks say that studying the BOL will help.
