Fabulous! I'm pre-JFK assassination myself, but not pre-sputnik.
However, I remember watching the first lunar landing broadcast on TV
on all the 3 affiliates. If you weren't watching that you were
watching either PBS or Creature Feature on the other two channels.
You had to turn a dial to get to them on our black and white TV.

I watched that too...the lunar landing, not PBS stuff...

Watched the lunar landing with my Grandpa on a little B&W set when
I was 10. I was staying with him for the weekend. He found it
interesting becasue he was born in 1898, so he was 13 or so when
the Wright brother's first flew, and he got to see men on the moon.

Cool.

Not to mention he was around before TV black and white or otherwise. Very
cool all the way around.
