No. I don't think that. I'm not really sure where all of this got started,
actually, but I like to type, so what the hey?

I have real concerns about JaR, though. I've seen the video tapes.

There are no right answers here. One could argue that being on a street at
night is gambling with their lives. One could argue that staying home is
gambling with their lives. A meteor could crash into your home. A piano
could land on your head. Crime could run rampant, or we could have eternal
happiness. Life, invariably, IS a gamble, and ultimately a losing
proposition at that. But we're in it anyway.

That criminal is someone elses child or husband, and has their own reasons
for what they are doing.

Ultimately, each of us is responsible for every other person on the face of
the earth, and most certainly the people who enter our lives, be they 'good'
or 'bad'. Everything and everyone is connected. How am I reaching you now if
that is not the case?

You're incorrect on this one. There are plenty of other people whose
responsibility it is to protect your family. People you don't know
personally and will probably never meet. There are people in this world who
work to prevent the proliferation of nuclear devices which would harm your
family, and every other family, for that matter. The bridge you drive on to
work, the engineers that designed it, the inspectors that inspected it, the
road crews that fix it. The company that made your toaster had to have the
toaster tested to ensure that no one would get shocked making toast. Your
computer was tested to ensure that it does not exceed certain limits on
radio emissions. The grocer has their food inspected to ensure quality and
disease free food. The people who burned a ton of cows to prevent the spread
of mad cow disease.

There's a system in place to do a great deal to protect your family. It's
not a great one, but the weight of the world is not squarely on your
shoulders.

The truth is, we're all in this together, but not everyone is smart enough
to realize it. And they don't take the time to think about how not to
participate in the game. And that's exactly why nobody wins.

Put down the gun, and give the criminal a twinkie.
