OT: Interning one day a week?

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

To those who are network/sys admins or those in the IT field in general, do
you think it is worth my time to intern one day a week while I am a full
time PC Tech at another company?

I do only PC Tech things at my current job meaning I fix computers that run
Win98-XP Pro. I have not touched Windows based server OSs. Nor have I
dabbled in any *nix flavors.

So, I have this oppurtunity through my wife's company in which I can intern
with the new IT directory one day a week. She works for a small non-profit
company and they have one IT guy running the entire show. He was recently
hired and my wife's HR dept. knows me and recommended me to come on and
intern and help the guy out. I plan on doing this for as long as I can.

I believe I'd be under the IT man's wing and hopefully performing what would
be network based things like hopefully setting up servers, configuring them,
watching over them, fixing things when things go down as well as my PC Tech
duties that I normally perform at my regular job.

Now I ask is one day a week worth my time? Would I be able to retain all
the information that is drilled through my noggin one day a week? I would
attempt to do more with this company but it is a non-paid position and I do
have bills and a family to take care of.

I also go to school (community college) where I am pursuing an Associate
degree in Computer Science.

I hope to hear from you all. Thank you.
