Almost makes me want to go to Iraq... or maybe Antarctica.
Found this posted in the rec.sports.disc newsgroup, text quoted below is
from someone else's posts, as there's no article on the web link, only the
magazine cover.

Extreme Disc Golf- A soldier by the name of Brian Anderson from Grand
Rapids, Michigan built an 18 hole course at Camp Dogwood in Baghdad. On
his second tour he was stationed at Camp Freedom in Mosul. There a
Lieutenant Colonel and a Major (both disc golfers) heard about the
first course he built and decided Camp Freedom needed one too.So they
built another 18 hole course. At both courses they used 4x4's posts as
targets since getting baskets was practically impossible. The terrain
is supposed to be similar to N.C. With several holes similar to the
Renaissance course in Charlotte.
The Second story is about a course that was built with homemade
baskets from scrap metal at the U.S. Research station called McMurdo in
Antartica. Innova sent them 300 discs. The pictures are incredible.
By the way. The geek on the cover, Michael Johansen, has won $1500 in 4
events this year.
