Three years ago when I started my job I felt the same way. I had a couple
years experience but not as the top dog of IT. I was approached by my
current company and offered a job as thier admin. I have 50 users, take care
of the network, do all desktop support, build db's, maintain website, wash
dishes, lead the parade on Veteran's day, you name it. First few months, I
was nervous and always waiting for something to happen I couldn't fix, It
never happened. Being the only IT person forces you to learn to troubleshoot
and more importantly where to find answers. Google is your best friend,
trust me. Technet is another good buddy to have around. Don't ever be afraid
to try something to fix a problem, just make damn sure you have a good
backup before you do. If you want you can email me at doom_mcngp38 at
hotmail dot com. I think you will be facing alot of the same things I went
through when I first started my gig. I'll be glad to share some of my
experiences with you.
