Well, I think that part of being able to deal with these people is to be
able to get together with your peers and blow off a little steam about it.
If no peers are present, the NG will do.
So, that being said its my turn. Last night without notifying my department,
one of the airhead electricians decided to change a main relay, thus
shutting off power to half the building. Of course, it was the half where
the server room is. He ran into problems getting the power back on and our
UPS ran out, so all the servers went down, but came back up once power was
restored. Now, our day shift workers start at 7:00am, but it wasn't until at
least 10:00 that the lusers started calling saying their terminals had been
disconnected and that they couldn't get any work done without them. Which
leads me to wonder what they did for three hours? Anyway, went out, gave the
terminal the ol' three-finger salute, which most of them know is exactly
what I do every time they have a problem, and everything came back up
hunky-dory.
