if you ever want to rise above sys. admin status, you will need a degree.
employers aren't too keen on having high school dropouts making big
decison. regardless of what mr. gordon gekko from "wall street" wants you
to believe. ;-(
your other big problem is that it's a very VERY bad job market in IT right
now. a lot of over qualified people with degree's applying of any job they
can get. if you are up against someone with a degree - you are screwed.
employers would rather call for an interview and hire some one with a
degree to work for peanuts than someone without a degree.
