With your background, you don't need the boot camps if and only if you are
a
motivated guy like me. I have a similar background a EE and BS in
computer
science plus 6 years experience. I took the MCSE course but I did my MCSD
on
my own. It took me 5 months to take all the 7 exam ( MCSD AND MCDBA). I
was
really focus and I'm working full time.

It depends also what technology you are working with (.net 1.1 or 2.0).
If
you are currently working with VS 2005, go for MCPD but if you are still
working with 1.1 and potentially upgrade to 2.0, get your MCSD and then
upgrade to MCPD. That's what I'm doing and I'm hot out there right now.
Every employer want a piece of me.

Good luck, the hard work will definitely pay off. Stay focus

Hello,

I am professionally a Software Developer (VB & SQL background) with a
Masters in Computer Science and couple of years of work experience. For
the
last 3 years, I had been taking a break from my professional life to grow
my
family.

Now that my kids are big enough, I was thinking of getting back into the
industry. I want to take up the MCAD and then MCSD certifications to
brush up
and also be able to prove to my potential employers that I can still do
my
job.

I have looked at the requirements and gone through the posts here
regarding
the approach for the exams. After having given a background story, here
are
my questions:

1. Has anyone been in a situation similar to mine ?
2. How long does it normally take an average programmer to study and then
take the MCAD and MCSD .NET using VB ?
3. Other than books, has anyone attended the Boot Camps?
4. If answered yes to the Boot Camp, how well do you think it helped you
and
what is the level og your skills?

I appreciate all the advise & thanks in advance ,
