I recommend you check out the study guide offerings by SYBEX - good material
with practice simulations. Also consider "Windows Server 2003,
Administrator's Pocket Consultant, by William R. Stanek, Microsoft Press.
It is not an official "study guide" but is probably the best "no
no-nonsense" text on Server 2003.

Hi,
I have just passed the 70-270 exam first time. Having completed the exam I
would now say that there is a big difference between 70-271 and 70-270.
The
latter is like 70-271 on steroids. I found the exam very hard going and
managed to pass with just 778 points. The content is very similar to
70-271
except that the questions are more orientated around the job role of a
systems administrator. I work as a DST (Desk Top Support) technician and
come
accross a lot of the material which is covered by 70-270 in my daily
tasks. I
think what made this exam tough is the amount of detail the questions went
into, whereas 70-271 just scratches the surface. I had to answer 58
questions
in 2 hours and 10 minutes and managed to finish them with 20 mins to
spare. I
used this time to check over the answers again.
I prepared quite heavily for this exam through using the Microsoft study
materials and reading articles on the Internet. I was supprised to find
that
the questions where as difficult as the Microsoft Readiness Review Suite
as
in previous exams the questions have been far easier. The scenarios where
very complex and confusing. Even after knowing the subject very well it
was
still hard to understand what the questions where actually asking.
I am just wondering how I will find 70-290 which I plan to do next as I
have
heard that this is much harder than 70-270. I use XP every day, but for
Windows Server 2003 I have only done a small amount of exchange
administration. What are people's views on Windows Server 2003?

Hello,
I have recently completed the full MCDST qualification and am now
planning
to work towards the MCSA. I have decided that it is best to start with
the
70-270 exam as this is very similar to the 70-271 exam. Please could
someone
tell me the difference between 70-270 and 70-271, as from looking at the
contents of the book it looks exactly the same.
I need to know where these exams differ when considering investing in
study
materials. If I can get by with the 70-271 stuff then it will save me
money.
I also need to know where this differs so that I can study any extra
material.
Also, will I be asked lab style questions in 70-270 as this is not so in
any
of the MCDST exams. I have heard that the Server 2003 exams have these
and am
wondering whether this applies to 70-270 as well.
Chris.
