My Bad.....
No real need to backup DNS because unlike DHCP a DNS record can be stored live in multiple places with Secondary Zone's and DNS Zone transfers. Or if you prefer a more secure method you can store DNS in Active Directory and replicate it that way. Not to mention the added benefits of Multi-Master Zones and a few others.

I guess what I meant by "... why not DNS" was why not backup the DNS zone in
the registry if your backing up things like DHCP info. --- Mike

As for using DNS as a backup, DNS doesn't have to be on the
system to use DHCP. Infect technically DNS doesn't have to be used on the
network at all for a DHCP implementation.
