MCAD/MCSD are not certifications for Visual Studio 2005. Instead, those are Visual Studio .NET 2003 certifications.
Between .NET 2003 and .NET 2008 there is a huge difference.
I'd suggest you to decide reght now which certification are you aiming at, 'cause MCSD/MCAD are being retired ending March.
I'm not telling this certification won't be recognized, i'm just telling it may be too few time (it depends completely on your experience and dedication).
So you should consider if you continue or if you aim towards MCTS/MCPD certifications (VS2005 or VS2008).

I am in the Microsfot Partner Program and have installed Visual Studio 2008 =
Professional=2E I am trying to work my way through:
MCAD/MCSD Self-Paced Training Kit: Developing Windows=AE-Based Applications =
with Microsoft=AE Visual Basic=AE =2ENET and Microsoft Visual C#=AE =2ENET, =
Second Ed
Unfortunately, the book is out of date as it was written for Visual Studio 2=
005=2E I have been able to work around most of the differences but the labs=
in the section on Data Access Using ADO=2ENET (Chapter 6) seem to be totall=
y wrong=2E
I followed the instructions for searching for eratica for ISDN 978-0-7356-19=
26-5 and came up empty=2E
Is there an update available for this book or at least a replacement for Cha=
pter 6=3F
.
