Re: Passed 70-330!!!!!

April 8, 2005

It took me almost exactly four months. That was not including Writing
Secure Code 2ed, as I had read that a few months before hand. Writing Secure
Code is not written in .Net Managed Code and therefore will not show you how
to implement the concepts very well. When reading that book, concentrate on
the concepts and how problems occur and what are the principles for solving
them, but not the actual way and implementation of the cure. The books
further down on the list will teach you how to implement the cures and
refresh your memory. If I included Writing Secure Code in my exam time
frame, it would have taken me about 6 months. Thread Modeling is an
excellent book to read after Security for VB, because it gets your brain
thinking about designs and such before the giant Improving Web Application
Security. Improving Web Application Security will be a LOT (with a capital
L) of design and best practices for designs. It will also go over Code
Access Security. Concentrate on the designs and the types of threats that
come with each system. My best tip is to Always read the MSPress Training
Kits last for all exams. These will refresh your mind and tell you out of
what you learned is most important for the exam. I try to read about 20 - 30
pages per day. It is a lot of work! Check off the exam objectives as you go
at:

microsoft.com/learning/exams/70-340.asp

Review this list and make sure you understand everything on it before taking
the exam. This list can be found in the front of the training kit also with
the places in the book where it goes over the objectives. You are the first
person I have heard that is going to take the security exam besides me! Keep
me posted on how far you are!
