I can only assume this is directed at me as you addressed the
OP with a second post.

Which other groups do you mean Cindy? I generally post using
psuedonyms. This is the first time I've used this particular
fake e-mail. Perhaps it shows potential dangers of googling
to identify posters. Or maybe it shows the danger of writing
with psuedonyms. Take your pick. I choose to use fake e-mail
addresses for the other advantages they offer.

The OP is nonsensical. Parsing it is impossible. But I think
the intent was to compare the number of construction jobs to
software engineering jobs. Or perhaps it was a question about
the availability of software engineering positions. Or perhaps
it was a question about the comptetiveness of the market. So
even the gist of the post is doubtful.

The original post is also off-topic.

I think the question really is asking: "Can I make a good
living in the software engineering field?" The answer is:
"Of course. Six figure jobs are advertised in the paper
all the time. But you need to be competitive. To be
competitive you need to put a lot of time not only into
technical training but also collaboration, communication,
and the ability to network."

Thoughtful advice should include an ESL class or kr4d3r1t3
rehab class. Communication skills and collaboration are just
as critical as education or certifications in the field.
This is true of any professional field.

I feel bad for students on Visas. I've seen brilliant
students passed over for mediocre programmers just because
of language skills.

Regards.
