BizTalk itself is 'stateless' and so can run on any machine that has access
to the underlying SQL servers. The configuration of hosts, and deployment of
host instances is unrelated to the distribution of databases across SQL. You
could have all dbs installed on a single SQL server, or each on its own SQL
instance & hardware. So long as the BTS servers can connect through to them
it will work.

I think the only thing you'll need to be wary of is that all the machines
are in the same domain (or trusted domains), so that domain accounts can be
used for host credentials.
