you never send via POP3, it is not a 'send' protocol.
I take it you have set up their Outlook/OE to send via your server, this
would use SMTP and by default they will only be able to send to people in
the SBS domain. There is a way to open SMTP for relay but even doing so for
authenticated users opens the possibility of abuse. It is much better for
the remote user to send via their ISP's SMTP server.

I've got a customer who is trying to access their e-mail from home in the
evening via pop3. They can receive just fine but when they send a message
outside the SBS exchange environment (like to somebody@xxxxxxxxxxx) they
get
an immediate 5.7.1 error and there is nothing in the options area to see
where the email went. I googled a note that said that Exchange doesn't
support relaying to third party sites via pop3. Is that true?
