Wow, extra cost for additional static IP? I cannot belive that it would be that much, typically on a DSL or Cable circuit you are talking at most $5-10 more per month.

Merv,
Thanks for the reply. This is where it gets difficult I need VPN to the
SBS2k3 server as far as data type it will mainly be .pdf files and Excel
files for now. And yes they don't want the extra cost right now for the
additional static IP address. I didn't know if itn could be done with using
ports at the router? Again thanks

Assuming you don't want to invest in a Dual WAN router and a second static
(or dynamic) WAN IP for the SBS2K network, if you don't need inbound VPN to
the SBS 2003 network, you could have your SBS2K remote users first establish
a VPN to the SBS2K and then RDP to their individual workstations so that all
work is contained on the SBS2K network for centralized access/backup. Of
course, this assumes that remote users have access to a dedicated
workstation on the SBS2K LAN. Stopping at just the VPN to the SBS2K may
also be an option, although less flexible in its features.
As for data transfer, that may be a bit more difficult depending on what
type of data needs to be transferred and whether this needs to be done
"automatically".
