Re: SBS2003, Outlook 2003, POP3 from client PC

Is this ISA 2000 or 2004?

Is this SBS 2003 Premium (with ISA installed)? If so, which ISA (2000 or
2003)?

So, you can receive mail with the POP3 account but you "reply"?

Thanks for the reply.

The Exchange mailbox is fine. The mail-account set up with that works
and we can send and received emails. We have tested this using the same
user-account on two client PCs.

It's the latter - using another email account and connecting via POP3
on the client - it doesn't :-(

Since my original post I have done the following. I set up the same
email-account in Outlook Express. In OE it's fine - we can send and
receive mail. Now, if we can just get Outlook 2003 to do that ...

I guess that as we can do one and not the other it suggests that all
the right ports are open on the server (that puts me at the limits of
my credibility when talking about networks). So I'm guessing that this
is an Exchange issue ... or is it?

Regards
Boris

Are you talking about the the Exchange mailbox and downloading mail
via the POP3 Connector in SBS 2003; or is a problem with a separate
POP3 "personal folder" in Outlook 2003 (in addition to the folder for
the Exchange mailbox)?

Hi all,

Current situation:
We have SBS 2000 with three clients.
On these clients we (and by that I mean our boss, the one who pays
us)
can get mail though Exchange and we can also send and receive mail
direct through POP3.

New situation
We have just installed a new server with SBS2003 and wanted to go
live
tomorrow. At the moment this isn't looking likely. Our mail box on
Exchange is fine, but we cannot send or receive anything through POP3
on the client machines.
I've read lots today and know that many of you hate the idea of using
POP3, but it's not my choice, it's the boss'.

As far as I'm aware, we didn't do anything special on the SBS 2000
setup to get POP3 mail working, it just did (after running the ICW).

Any ideas? At the moment I think I'll be working althrough the night
:-(

By the way, we're not techies. Our SBS knowledge is gleaned from the
net and two books by Russel et al, and Neale et al.

HELP!
Boris
