as long as this 2nd box is a DC and runs DNS having it do DHCP is OK, I'd be
interested in it's DHCP scope options, just to compare to SBS expectations.
It does though sound like this PC can't see a share location. Please check
the 'hosts' file, make sure there's no manual entries in there.
Hang on, three IPs are of interest
192.168.2.8 2nd W2k3 server (DHCP+WINS, hopefully DNS
192.168.2.9 what's this?
192.168.2.15 SBS
though it is reasonable for another AD DC to offer DHCP and other services
(WINS, DNS) I'd disable DHCP on the alternate box and allow SBS to do it, at
least as a test. You might also try setting the client PC to a manual config
pointing solely at the SBS for these services, see if the problem still
happens.

We have a Windows 2003 server acting as a backup domain controller
(192.168.2.8). I was of the understanding that the backup DNS server IP
had to be listed on the primary as well? Is that not the case?
The SBS is not doing DHCP just because DHCP was already set up on a
different server before the SBS machine was installed. SBS is already
doing too much!
Thanks,
Brad

Hi Brad,
Delete the DNS 192.168.2.8 on the server nic. Why is the SBS not doing
the
DHCP??

Hi Marina.. Yes, the DHCP server is one machine, the WINS and DNSConnection

Here is the IPconfig from the SBS..

I tried removing the client PC from the domain and then re-adding -

Hi Brad,
That ipconfig is no good at all. It is pointing to different WINS
domainand DHCP server. Can you post the ipconfig/all from the server please?

In article <OBSUix1TGHA.4436@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>,
donotreply@xxxxxxxxxxx says...
Sorry, I should have mentioned all this stuff...
Only this user - and ONLY on this machine. If he logs into the
good.on
another machine, he can access Excel files no problem - speed is
it
The issue has been going on for some time - he just never
mentioned
linksto
me until recently...
So, in a nutshell, it appears that it only happens on this
machine,
and
ONLY when he logs into the domain on this machine. Any other
machine
is
just fine...
It happens for all excel files... (especially ones that inlcude
intoto
other spreadsheets...
Have also done a defrag on his HD (as it needed it) but that is
not
the
issue. Maybe I should simply try uninstall/reinstall Office (or
specifically Excel?)
It sounds to me like a machine problem (connecting to the Server /
LAN).
Could we have an ipconfig /all for the PC concerned?
Meantime, why not try disconnecting the PC from the domain (put it
peer-to-peer mode, aka Workgroup mode), then reconnecting back to
the
domain.
