open up a command prompt and type 'set' without the quotes. It will list the
existing variables, there's a couple in there you may want to use.

Thanks for that. I have it working now...
I am using the %clientname% and %machine% name environment variables to
write a line in the log file indicating the name of the computer the user
is currrently logged onto (%clientname%) and the machine name they are
logging on or off of (%machinename%). so, if a user is at my PC and logs
into a terminal server, the clientname is my PC name and the machine anme
becomes the terminal server name. Now, to do this, I had to add a system
environment variable to each of the terminal servers for
"machinename"={whatever it is}. However, for clientname, I did not add
that to my list of environment variables and it stilll picksup the
"clientname" as being my machine name. However, on other XP machines, I am
simply getting blanks in the log file.
Any ideas on how to get a machine name without having to go to each
machine and set an environment variable? I still can not figure out how it
is working on my machine...
Thanks,
Brad

sorry, wrong article. I did a quick search and skim.
The scripts are defined in the policy itself. I create an additional
group policy and apply it at the domain level. The attached pic is from
SBS2003 so uses the GPMC, but I hope it tells the story, SBS2000 is very
similar.

Ok, once I set the group policy to enable this, where do you actually
specify the logoff script? When I go tot eh MMC to add a snap in, I do
not
see any snap in there for Login/off scripting... In active directory
for
each user you can specify a login script but nowhere do I see the
ability to
specify a log off script...
Thanks,
Brad

No problems with logon scripts... However, what about when a user logs
off of their computer or shuits it down...
Is there a way I can implement a batch file that would run when a user
logs off or begins the shutdown procedure on their machine? (XP Pro
users
only)
Thanks,
Brad
