The thing to check is can you ping a normal internet IP. So go to the
command line on a workstation and try pinging 66.102.9.104 which is a
google server. If you get a reply then you have an issue with the DNS
most likley is the windows 2000 DNS has not been configured to forward
DNS query's to your ISP's DNS server.
If you are unable to ping there is something more fundamentally wrong
with your set-up. So check the following :-
On the linksys router are all lights showing that you have a proper
link?
Depending on what type of modem you have you might need to
a) Configure the linksys wan interface with a static ip to talk
to the modem
b) Configure the linksys wan interface with a dynamic IP to talk
to the modem
You could also try a tracert to for example 66.102.9.104 depending on
the output this might give you a better understanding of where the
problem is.
