SBS2000.
I am currently running my SBS with a two NIC configuration. We have another company that is coming in to rent out some space in our office. We want to provide internet access to them, but not have them be able to get on our network and vice versa. They do not have a server, just a workgroup. I have a Cisco 1720 router, but it only has one WIC. A friend of mine who programs Cisco routers told me that the easiest thing for me to do would probably be to make some configuration changes to the ISA to create the separate networks. He mentioned to me that I might also need to add another NIC to the box to achieve what I want. The ISA config sounds good to me, but I wouldn't even know where to start. Any ideas would be most helpful. Thanks,
With SBS2000, you have ISA2000. ISA2000 does not handle multiple nic scenarios terribly well. I would *not* recommend attempting to use your SBS to provide network management in this fashion.
Have them buy a firewall, and fit it as follows:
Internet -> Cisco Router -> Switch -> SBS external NIC
-> WAN side of their FirewallThe only requirement for this to work is that there be an IP available for the WAN side of that firewall. If the Cisco router is providing basic NAT, this is certain. If it's actually doing full blown routing, then you just need a spare public IP in your block (so your block would need to be at least 8 IPs, rather than 4).
