And what version of SBS 2000 is mark running (SP1a or is this an earlier
build?). Also, what is the exact text of the error message Mark's getting.

They are the same names. So PC1 replaced PC1 etc. The old PCs were
removed
from the domain by changing them to "Workgroup" before unplugging them.
