I had posted a question several weeks ago and several of you suggested that
the solution was to rerun ICW. My client has switched their DSL from static
to a dynamic address and everything worked fine except that they cannot send
mail to anyone with SNET as their ISP. The suggestion made was to rerun ICW
and use a smart host rather than the default SMTP virtual server. My
question is this: the other day I started to run ICW but one of the first
options was a screen giving me an option to creadte a new session or keep
existing settings. I started thru several screens using the default but
cancelled out when it came to IP address settings. They have a double nic
system using a router. I have printed KB articles 297988 and 319267 and in
reading them seem to confirm using a smart host. I don't want to screw up
internet access or settings.. I just want to reconfigure the SMTP so that it
points to the new smart host. I'm sorry I don't have the exact wording on
that screen but it made me pause and ask "What the hell are you doing!" Any
help here would be appreciated
thx
