Hi and thanks for the replies.
First of all, when I set up the SBS 2003 machine, it
recommended that I did not use DHCP as part of the setup
routine so I followed this advice and went ahead with the
2 static IP addresses. So I guess my next step will be to
set up DHCP on the Server, and then tell the workstation
to pick up an address automatically.
When I changed the NIC, I did a manual setup of the
interfaces and set up the IP addresses accordingly, there
was no wizard to follow here.
With regard to pinging, when I ping from one machine to
the other, the Network connection status shows packets
being received but it does not respond to the pings.
I setup the DNS address as being the one on the Server.
I must emphasise that I am not a networking expert so
most of this is new to me anyway.
I will not be able to visit the site for a few hours now
so will not be able to post any updates until later in
the day.
Thanks again for your responses.
John
