All,
I am thinking about purchasing a Dell PowerEdge 700
server and loadinf SBS 2003 Standard. The Client three
computers (peer -to-peer workgroup), network printer,
Peachtree accounting software, MS office suite. Wants
Sharepoint (Remote work place) and host exchange. Pretty
basic stuff.
Anyways, What have been you guys experience with running
SBS 2003 on the PowerEdge 700? The configuration I am
looking at is; 2.8 P4 processor, 1GB Ram, 2 mirrored 80
GB drives (on board SATA Controller), No tape drive
(using usb external tape drive and native win 2003 back
up software). Two NIC's. I am debating whether to have
Dell pre install the OS, or I install it myself (I perfer
myself, but with them installing, I will not have to
fight with driver issues....) Oh, no mointor, keyboard,
mouse.
Thoughts? I am not totally stuck on Dell, If you can
think of a more cost consious solution, I am open to
whatever you guys recommend.
I am trying to get a hardware, software both around
$1800.00.
Thanks in advance for your suggestion/comments!
Larry
