We have a bizzare problem sending faxes from our SBS 2k
server.
We have two modems both configured to send using different
dialing rules.
They are configured as follows:
Internal modem is a BCM V.92 56k (COM3)which requires a 9
to proceed the fax no.
External modem which is a sportser Flash (COM2) does not
require a 9 proceeding no.
Internal fax modem used for sending faxes
External fax modem used for remote dial access
They used to work fine however during a remote dial
session using PC Anywhere the server completely locked
requiring a hard-reboot.
Here is what happens when we try to send faxes now.
1 - When the external fax is switched off the internal Fax
sends faxes fine.
2 - When the external fax is switched on and receiving
transmission via PC anywhere or any other communication
the internal fax sends ok.
3 - However when the External fax is switched on but not
communicating and a users tries to send a fax the fax does
not go.
It would seem as though the Operating System wants to use
the Sportster external modem as the default even though
the internal modem is set as the default fax modem.
Any ideas/advice greatly appreciated
