I just use

net use P: \\netbiosnameofserver\share /user:netbiosnameofdomain\user

Then you'll get a prompt for the password. It says "user name or password is
invalid for ... Enter password for ...:"

Netbiosname is the old-style name without the period - net use doesn't
understand DNS AFAIK. No quotes.
