Hello,
You will get a better audience in the
microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs group.

I have a new SBS 2003 Standard server. Exchange is not installed. I named
the server exactly the same name as the one coming off of the network. Same
IP and IP configuration. DHCP is set up. DNS is set up. Same domain name.
I set up the server on a subdomain of the one in my office. Everything,
including connectcomputer worked fine.
I took the client computers off of the existing domain and placed them into
a workgroup. Then, when I took the old server off of the network, I put the
new server on. Now come the problems....
None of the clients would get their ip from the server. When we put in a
static IP, the clients could ping the router, could sometimes ping the
server, but we could not connectcomputer. It did not find it. When I went
into Windows Explorer, the client could see the domain. When I put the
address \\gswcsbs01\c$ into the address bar in Explorer, I could get to the
C: drive of the server. However, that was the only way. I could not RDP
into the server from the cilent with the static IP using the FQDN nor the IP
adress.
This is the strangest thing I've seen. All suggestions welcome.
