The answer to the AV issue probably has to do with how the av updates the
remote clients.
I would take the issue to the SBS 2003 group, and be specific on the AV mfg
and product.

We administer our anti-virus software centrally. Remote laptops are not
being
updated/scanned. Also I would like to connect to remote machines to
provide
user assistance on software problems.

What would you need/want to administer on the remote computer that is

You may get more response in the SBS 2003 Newsgroup.
SBS public Newsgroups:
SBS 4.x: microsoft.public.backoffice.smallbiz
SBS 2000: microsoft.public.backoffice.smallbiz2000
SBS 2003: microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs
if your current news server does not carry the mentioned groups you
should
be able to connect directly to news.microsoft.com

We run SBS 2003 R2 and have about a dozen remote VPN users.
When these PCs are connected their connection shows up in DHCP manager,
not
as the individual PC but as the server. This makes it impossible to
connect
to the remote PCs for admin purposes using remote desktop. Can you tell
me
if
there is a way of doing this? We are not running ISA.
