RE: SBS Monitoring Install : KB555432

Hi Lan.

Thanks for your reply.

I am glad to know the problem was resolved. You did good job.

Based on my experience, to fix error message below :

"The Wizard encountered an error while configuring the monitoring features.
Run Small Business Server Setup re-install the server tools component and
then run monitoring configuration wizard again".

Usually we first need to reset the Monitoring Component. If the problem
persists, we can consider reinstalling the Monitoring component.

To reset monitoring component, please take the following steps:

1. Open Server Management.
2. Click Monitoring and Reporting.
3. Click Set Up Monitoring Reports and Alerts.
4. Click Next and select Reinstall monitoring features.
5. Click Yes to confirm.
6. Follow the steps to complete the task.
7. Then pleas re-run CEICW wizard and then run configure Monitoring and
Reporting wizard to configure the monitoring component.

I'd like to give you more information for your reference:

<Hi Robert,
<
<Thank you for your prompt response. I followed your instructions and the
<SBSMonitoring install failed again with the same error, so I ran SBSSetup
<again and the second time it worked and prompted me to apply the service
pack
<when I had finished - so I did KB 885918 (SBS2003SP1).
<The Monitoring wizard now runs, but right at the end when it says
<configuring data source etc, it fails when setting data collection etc...
<
<I re-ran the wizard again, but instead of starting again - I modified
<existing settings and the data collection got a green tick next to it...so
it

<
<I will check the server in 12-24 hours to see if it has collected

<Hmm... it would seem that I must ignore the error messages and just keep
<installing/modifying until it works ?

<Thanks for your help with this problem.
