Just a guess...
Server Management | Users | (doubleclick) the user | Account tab | User
Logon Name (Pre-Windows 2000)
make sure this entry is correct for the new user.

Thanks for the reply, the problem is that the field that is the only
incorrect one is "user name" and that one cannot be edited. If I delete
the user and add them again I still get the same incorrect user name, I
cannot find this name anywhere in the system, but it was actually the
previous name for this account.
Any more ideas before I go mad!!
Thanks

I think this is what you're asking for...
On the server, open an Internet Explorer window and paste the following
into the address field and press enter:
http://companyweb/_layouts/1033/userinfo.aspx
Then click on the display name in question. A new web page will display
with the ability to Edit User Information for display name and email
address.

Hi
I have a really strange problem when trying to assign a user to
companyweb
(SBS2003), I am prompted to go to the address book for the usere info, I
select the required user and add them. when I go to the companyweb user
list,
the user is a different logon name and email address.
The user that I am tring to set up uses a general reception@xxx email
address with the same logon name and a "real" display name. this user
account
was originally assigned to a username e.g. bloggs@xxx. It seems that
IIS/companyweb has stored the old credentials somewhere, but where? I
have
searched registry, AD and the C: drive for mention of the old name but
no
results.
Anyone got any ideas please?
