Re: SecureNAT vs. Firewall Client in SBS 2003

Yes, you can use secure nat. It makes the ISA reports harder to read and
the users will be unable to make secondary connections from their
workstations however, other general items will work.

I always deploy the ISA client via the wizards and leave it at that.
Much easier to manage.

Some items like FTP will need to be in Passive mode without the firewall
client. The normal mode (out on 21, in on port20) will not work
correctly without the client. (As an example)

According to the ISA Install Steps in SBS 2003 R2, "After you install ISA
Server 2004, you must install Firewall Client on each computer in order to
access the Internet." I've used both the Firewall Client and SecureNAT
connectivity on my SBS 2000 system and find SecureNAT easier to manage - no
extra software to maintain and no hassle of toggling the Firewall Client on
and off for laptops used in and out of the office.

So that leads to 2 questions:
1. Can I use SecureNAT with SBS 2003 and ISA 2004?
2. What advantage is gained by using the Firewall Client in a single-office
small business environment where all 35 users get unrestricted access to the
Internet?
