Re: SBS2003 replacing SBS2000 - ok to keep same IP, domain and computer name?

Hi mbw:

take a look at www.sbsmigration.com. can save a lot of work....

otherwise, you can use the ms tool admt.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=fa187d1e-8218-4501-9729-222bd8ebb64c&DisplayLang=en

but this forces a new SID

or you can build a new server from scratch, recreate all the shares and
permissions, export and import all the mail, and disjoin and rejoin all the
workstations.

About to replace an existing SBS2000 with a SBS2003 Premium.

Plan was to keep same IP, domain and computer name, just transfer over
file
data and Exchange data, then join existing Win2k/XP clients to the new
server.

Any issues if I keep server IP (192.168.16.2), Domain Name and Server Name
the same??

Also have Trend SMB and BackupExec

Thanks
