There are some difference in how MSDE work sometime. I have been on some
server that where using trusted connections, and therfor the software i was
going to install didnt run. I had to remove the MSDE (all off the instance)
and reinstall it, then every thing work. I dont now why i couldtn change
from trusted connections, but the MSDE refused me to do that. I dont now
why, but i think the Veritas Backup Exec made a instance and that this was
the root to the problems, i dont now. But after a reinst. everything was
fine, and i didnt has to use trusted connections ( -E ). I dont now if this
help you, but try to connect to the SQL with OSQL and use -u and -p and see
if you get to the database, if you get a error that you need to use trusted
connections, then you can use -E and everything works fine, but maybe the
ACT cant use -E ??
