Thanks for the reply. I believe he is using OSX v 10.2. He seems to be kind
of savvy, of course more than I am as far as Mac is concerned.
My server is using DHCP. We have 2 nic, one for the internal network and one
for the DSL external network(which is behind a soho firewall). The printer
has it's own ip address.

The Mac laptop has an IP address 192.168... already installed on it, do I
have to configure the server to allow that ip address into the network?

Yes I am using ISA on the server.

The mac get's no response when he pings, I've tried pinging him from my
workstation and I can't find him either. We've tried the internal and
external ip address of both NICs.
