Are you adding a new computer with a new user or adding a new computer with
an existing user? If it's the former then try adding a new computer but use
an existing user.

The setup/install program is stopped by the existence of a dummy file called
"Installed"
in the clients response folder, located in
\Smallbusiness\Clients\Response\Clientname (replace Clientname with the
PC's name). If the dummy file exists, the install program should run when
the script runs,
to stop it simply copy the "Installed" file over from one of the
working clients and the installs should stop (note that you may have to
delete the SBS file from the "Startup" folder on the wonky client as well).
To start it, simply
delete the dummy file and it should run on the client next time they login.

Things to check:

- make sure the NT permissions for the entire
\Smallbusiness\Clients\Response\ path are set to RW for everyone.
- make sure the administration shares still exist: \\Servername\Clients,
\\Servername\Clientapps, \\Servername\mspclnt and there permissions are
setup for all to access
- for XP, the user must be a member of the local administrators group and
you don't install the standard applications anyway (except for proxy, which
can be installed from \\Servername\mspclnt)

For 98, you may be able to use the \\Servername\Clientapps and
\\Servername\mspclnt shares to manually install the apps you want. In
reality you'd only need to install the proxy client (\\Servername\mspclnt)
and modem/fax stuff anyways (\\Servername\Clientapps). Most of the other
apps are too old to use anyways (unless you've managed to update them).
